How to make garlic green beans that remain crisp and flavorful. Green beans cooked with golden fried garlic that allows you to still taste the freshness of the beans in each bite. Our goal isn't to overcook, oversteam, or overcasserole them. We want to steam the green beans in their own moisture just to barely cook them, then sear them for flavor. We're not getting rid of the snap, just enhancing what nature gave us. Enjoy this simple recipe.
Ingredients
1 lb green beans, rinsed and ends cut
1 TBSP minced garlic
1 tsp salt, to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper, ground
1 TBSP vegetable oil

  1. On the stovetop, heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic. Turn heat to low. Stir occassionally until garlic is golden, roughly 4 minutes.
  2. Add green beans, salt and pepper. Stir. Cover and allow to steam in its own moisture for 2 minutes undisturbed. Uncover, stir to redistribute beans, and cover again for another 2 minutes. Uncover and stir.
  3. Turn up the heat. Then let green beans sear for 2 minutes. Serve hot. Enjoy!
